    Hello ...

I'm trying to check if I can make DVDs write protected after I burn files to them ... especially for the recovery disks created from the Recovery Manager ... is this possible ??

Is it true that different size of Rams won't work together properly like a 2GB with 1GB or 1GB with 512MB and they both have to be the same size ??.... Also is there is a maximum number of GBs I can have in the memory slots?? when i upgrade my RAM do i have to get an HP spare or other brands will work fine ??

    Thank you. :)

I'm not sure what you're asking in your first question.

You won't have any problems if you mismatch ram. You would have to check HP's website to see the maximum RAM amount for your system. You may use any brand of RAM.

Notebook & Tech Bargains usually has great deals on RAM:

If you mean worrying about accidental overwrite of the data, unless you are using rewritable media this will not be a problem.

LOL are you serious? You cant write over a DVD once it has been burned and finalized. Unless it's a DVDRW which can be written over but you cant use them to burn recovery discs using the HP recovery maker, only DVD+ or -Rs can be used.

Any decent brand will work fine and the maximum per slot is usually 1-2GB depending on the model and chipset.

Thank you all for you assistance :)

Maybe my english didn't help me in describing my first question  ...

I have a set of blank DVDRW and used two of them in creating the recovery disks from the recovery manager ... my question is how i can make these disks now read only... i mean no more data or files will be put in any one of them as they still have some free space over 2GB(for the 2nd DVD i used) ... as a matter of keeping them safe ... hope this described

By the way ... when I ordered the recovery disks from the HP website they sent me two of them but all labeled "DVD 1 of 1" .. neither one of them was supplement to the other ... but the problem is when i picked one and used it the progress of the system recovery stops at 77% and then the computer restarts many times .... while the other continues to 100 % and restores the system ... why HP sent me two of the and could the first one be corrupted ?

    Thank you. :)

If you make recovery discs finalize it afterwards so no more data can be written on it. It took 3 DVDs to create recovery discs for my system. I ordered one from HP and they only sent 2. I believe they use a more condensed version or maybe a double layer... can't copy these discs at all. But the thing is once you do make your recovery discs you can copy it for backups. Yes it will also install all the bloatwares and will take some time (mine took 3 hours and then some).

As far as RAM goes, you can mix and match but they have to be of the same specs that HP recommends. So if you have 2 slots you can max it at 4gb (2gb x2)
