I just noticed it. Ruined my day. One teeny weeny red pixel on the upper right side of my screen. Now my less than perfect two week old notebook. Guess I'll have to live with it. Yes, I saw the thread in the Notebook Dummy Guide Articles section.

You are within your 21 day return period. send it back and order a new one.

Yeah, I know... but I don't want to wait for who knows how long it'll take for HP to send me a new one. Besides, it's barely noticeable and I can only see it with a bright background. Anyway, aren't dead pixels expected soon or later?

Well, don't be surprised if you get one. I mean, theres hundreds of thousands of pixels on a notebook screen. Its funny, you'd think that 1 dead pixel wouldn't even be noticable, but it is.

You should feel lucky...I have TWO on mine! A red one and a green one...luckily, my screen is high resolution and I don't really notice them at all...only on certain backgrounds
-
Actually, I do feel a bit lucky... although, it would've been better not to have one. I used to have a big white dead pixel(s) smack in the middle of my old Dell. Because it was a company notebook, they wouldn't replace it for me. Like I said, I can barely notice the little red one I have on my new notebook, unless I'm running a full screen application that happens to be bright.

I am lucky with my V2000z. I did not see any dead/stuck pixel. My previous toshiba had stuck pixel(bright blue) right in the middle of the screen. It used to annoying when watching DVDs. But I bought it from newegg and they only replace if we have 7+ dead pixels. But finally I got used to that stuck one. Looks like now-a-days the dead pixels/stuck pixel are not that common anymore because of good LCD panel yields.
Dead pixel on a V2000Z...
