So I've had my new dv6000 for a few weeks now and I can't seem to get rid of these dead pixels. I think they are "hot" pixels because they are white. I would say I have well over 20 of these things, mostly on the bottom portion of the screen. I wouldn't say they are annoying but they are noticeable under the right light and how dark the screen color is.
Should I go through the trouble of returning it and getting a better screen? I'm not sure of the policy and how much trouble I will have to go through.

Did you say 20 of them? This might fall under HP warranty for a replacement screen. This works for numbers as low as 6 on Dell models. Call HP and ask if you can get a replacement.

Press for a replacement, I say. 20 dead pixels certainly indicates a defective screen, and more may develop over time. Since it's new, get it replaced, and push them if you have to.

I would definitely have it replaced. Iv had my laptop replaced 4 times now since jan for another issue. They will definitely not give you trouble for replacing it. they have been easy with me since the machines have been brand new. Good luck !

yeah I would have it replaced as well, but maybe would wait a little until the exchange process (which easily could take a week) is during a convenient time for you.. since the pixels are not annoying and most likely dont stop you from working/gaming... just don't wait too long...
also ask them how fast they could replace it

Replace it asap. It's defective.

Is there anyway I could use this to my advantage and get a free upgrade? I've never really dealt with support before.

When in doubt always ask....
I'd say they need to replace the lcd... that is terrible if they try to say that's acceptable. If you have bad pixels in a new TV you would take it back.... why won't they offer the same for acomputer that is just as expensive?
I have been disappointed with HP handling my displeasure of a batery-life of under an hour... I think it's the battery yet they will offer nothing for me to correct the problem... I asked over and over again to simply replace the battery.... NOTHIN! -
Well I ordered the replacement. But as I sat here and inspected the pixels a little more, I think I've come to realize it is spray paint or something. I ran over the pixel with my fingernail and I could feel it. Although, it is impossible to remove.
Anyone else notice white specks on their notebooks? I even seen it all over my keyboard.
Dead pixels...should I return?
