As some of you know, Hp replaced my old v3000z for a v6000 which came yesterday and when I opened, the screen was going on and off, I moved the lid a few times and it was flashing, after 5 min it when completley off, I called my case manager, she told me the problem could be due to fedex and the boxes, to me is that the cables to the screen are broken or something, she told me she was going to send another one, this time a pre-built pavilion model, an Intel one..the thing is that I really like this compaq v6000, it has amd turion 64 x2 1.8 g and nvidia 6150....and I realized that their prebuilt models bring intel core duo 2.0 g and intel media graphics accelerator 950...i never heard of this graphic card before and I also dont know wheter this intel processor is better than the amd one...im so confused about this...should i try to fix the compaq..may be the problem it has is simple...its just that the screen doesnt light up..or should I accept the pavilion with that kind of processor and graphics card?? help please!! im going crazy

I hate to say it but go with the Intel chip. Intels usually runs cooler and saves though miniscule, battery life.

can anybody point me to the difference between AMD turion 64x2 tl-56 (1.8) and Intel Core Duo T2450 (2.0)....and also between the nvidia 6150 and the intel graphics acc. 950? thats all that worries me..

The Core Duo is 32-bit-only so you'll never be able to upgrade to 64-bit Vista or 64-bit Linux, which probably isn't a near-term problem for you. The GMA950 is quite a bit inferior to the GeForce 6150 though, in terms of both hardware and drivers. As a rule if you have to buy an Intel CPU the Core 2 Duo is the only one worth considering, and if at all possible get a dedicated memory GPU upgrade (ATI or NVIDIA). You're not buying in this case though.
It sounds like they sent you a refurb that they didn't get quite right. -
no, she said this was a new unit and i know it cuz it took 2 weeks to ship, in the case of the processors I think i will stick to the presario, i will tell her that I will send it back so they can repaired, or may be i will take it to somewhere where they repair laptops, i dont think they will charge me that expensive anyways for repairing that
Defective replacement, more problems...
