Instead of using the partition magic method of deleting and combining the unpartitioned space with the main C:\, I attempted the safer way of accessing HP's advanced boot option by pressing F11 during startup. I had around 65 gb originally, and now I have 73.5 gb total. I ordered 80gb harddrive from HP. Is this normal? or did I screw up by using HP's advanced option? Thanks in advance.

No...that sounds about right. You'll never get all 80GB (formating and tech crap), but 73.5 on a 80 sounds just about right.

I also have 80 gb, and youre fine... just go to Windows Explorer or My Computer, right click on the HD and go to Properties. Look the middle buttom number, like this.
