I have a new Dell 420 notepad running XP with the latest updates. I also have two other computers which both are networked wireless to my HP 2710 all in one printer which both are printing okay.

Using my new Dell 420 I can ping my printer.

    The problem:
When I am trying to load the 2710 applications & drivers on my D420 using either the printer supplied CD or a newer driver from HP's web site I cannot load the applications and HP drivers. After loading the 500Meg application and de-compressing (where it loads many files in my temp directory) it begins the installation by Flashing a HP install screen and then NOTHING further happens??

Note: The HP supplied CD hangs up "Searching for installed applications"?

All fIREWALLS INCLUDING THE MS FIREWALL AND VIRUS PROTECTIONS ARE TURNED OFF.

I have uninstalled and tried several times with the same results.

The HP driver from HP is rub_w01_Americas_Euro1

Any help would be appreciated. After paying HP's support $35 I gave up.

    Dave.
