Dell is now offering internal wireless USB options in XPS notebooks as well as Inspiron 1525. Comes with Belkin wireless USB hub.

That's pretty sweet when you think about it.

No USB wires coming out the side of your lappy. Think of it as a docking station that you don't have to dock with just be near enough to.

So when will HP offer this option? Hopefully with the Monetvina refresh of their lines in May/June.

That's cool that they are integrating it into the laptop.

In my opinion though, Dell needs to start working on that friggin LCD screen instead of all the little bells and whistles.

Agreed on Dell's screens. What the hell, Dell?

I want to go to HP's headquarters and sneak into a board room. Slip under the table and punch everyone in the crotch.

"Yeah, this is what it feels like not having Nvidia's GTs and GTXs."

When i was buying my desktop, Dell had the worse line-up vs. HP
The processors were all slower and didn't get as high as HP's did (speed)
The video cards were on par with HP having the better price (free upgrade to 256MB ATI) Bells and whistles were cheaper and better on HP.

And the price!!! My HP rang in at $699 after the coupon. Dell couldn't compare but the closest I got was a bit over $1,100+

It's the only reason I also bought a HP laptop, brand loyalty!

Definitely better styling with HP, no question there. I am of the same opinion as all of you, HP just doesn't understand that they would be killing the competition if they offered the higher-end video cards. The only laptop that I really like form HP is the HDX, because it has the 8800GTS. Even that though should've had the 8800GTX, another mistake on HP's part.

I wonder if they are ever going to come out with a gaming laptop, because at the moment they are seriously losing a lot of business to the competition because they don't offer a performance laptop for gaming.

I agree, styling on both the desktops and laptops is bar none. All Dell, IBM, Toshiba and a few other laptops look like bricks. Nothing special at all.

The video options are scarce and most people will spend more to get the better video.

With Dell the thing that never ceases to amaze me is their choice of screens. The screen is what you have to sit and look at the whole time your using your notebook (minus external monitors). So forget performance for a minute, how are you supposed to enjoy using a notebook if your looking at an absolutely awful, grainy screen for hours on end.

They should put an end to using sub-par LCDs and just raise prices by a few $ or £s whatever, so that everyone recieves a good quality LCD in their dell, an LG.

At least among notebook enthusiasts these grainy LCDs are destroying their reputation, I mean why should consumers be forced to enter a lottery on a £600 / $1000+ system?

Yep, I'm looking to buy an HDX also. Just waiting for the Montevina refresh. Hopefully by then they'll have a Blu-ray burner with lightscribe and wireless USB.

Who knows, maybe they'll offer an 8800M GTX. But the thing is, ATI will have some new cards out by then based on the R700. Not sure if it will compete against the 8800MGTX but hopefully it will drive prices down enough or match the performance of the 8800M GTS such that HP may be more inclined to offer the 8800M GTX. Then there's the problem of the 8800 series not being DX10.1 and shader 4.1 compatible. With the release of Vista SP1, not sure HP will want to put "obsolete" hardware in the HDX. They may opt to drop Nvidia until Nvidia has something Dx10.1/Sh 4.1 compatible.

Alledgedly, the 9600M GT will be twice as fast as the 8600MGT with a 256MB memory bus as compared to 8600M's 128 bit. It will also have 64 shaders just like the 8800M GTS. 3Dmark06, if it's true that it will be double the performance of the 8600, should be in the mid to high 8000's. Plus, it'll be dx10.1/shader4.1 compatible.
