I've been a Dell customer for 10 years but am looking at my first HP notebook, the HDX 16t. I've customized one (below), but find it too expensive at $2,400.
Would you expect some great HP coupons in the next days (all the ones I've found on the web are invalid or expired when I check out at HP). Are there any other tricks to knock a couple hundred dollars of this price? Thx.

get the P8400 CPU instead as it will save some bucks and have lower heat output (T9400 runs hotter)
just stick with 2GB basic RAM and order 4GB (2x2) from newegg.com for $50 instead of the $100 that HP would charge
just get one battery and wait for a 8 or 9 cell to come out as the 12-cell looks rediculous
oh and wait til thurs for new coupons (as i hear) -

i dont know how much faster photoshop and similar apps would run with the T9400, but my P8400 loads photoshop in about 3 seconds max and there is no lag during usage. my photos are usually RAW or TIFF in 4500px at 35-40 mbs each. im sure the T9400 is slightly faster, but is it worth the price jump?

Get the best processor you can as you might regret not taking it for extra $100 later. RAM - upgrade yourself.
-
the best processor is $475 extra from the basic P7350
if you really need to, you can buy that same processor from newegg.com when it gets a little cheaper and upgrade the CPU and sell your old CPU
that is of course if you dont need the HP warranty bs -
yea i second wat suland said, 2.53ghz has 6mb l2 cache while the 2.4ghz one only has 3 so there will be a difference when you multitask and use cpu intensive programs. try to avoid paying for things like ram and hdd upgrades when u can upgrade it urself

read this thread
the 6MB L2 cache probably wont make too much real world difference (they say less than 5%)
if throwing extra money for unnoticeable difference floats your boat, go for it
i would personally go for the cooler CPU since HP had much issues with overheating a few months ago

I have the T9400 in my HDX16t and have no over heating issues.
-
let the man make his choice im sure there wouldnt be such a difference in pricing for an unnoticeable difference in performance. it depends on his usage and applications
-
Does anybody know the battery life difference between the t9400 vs the p7350? That's something to consider as well, if you are on the go.
