    This is my first post so I'm kinda new at this, but I have a question. I know that AMD 64 is like the top of the line for a CPU in Graphics, but I was wondering whether the Compaq R3000z series with a AMD 64 Proccessor with a 64MB NVIDIA GeForce Graphics card is better than the Compaq R3000t series with a Intel Pentium 4 processor and a 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9600. Ill be using the Laptop for mainly gaming, editing photos, and surfing the web.
    I'm lookin for which one would have better graphics. [} :)]

    Which would have a better battery life ? I understand the AMD 64 extends battery life, would the Intel Pentium laptop go at least 3 hours without charging[?]

    I would think that the 128mb graphics card machine would have better graphics.

    Alas, that rules out the R3000z. The GeForce 440 Go is a 3-year-old chip, think 440MX on the desktop. Very stupid choice for HP to make.

    It doesn't quite fit your $ limit, but check the Acer Ferarri 3200. See the Acer forum here. Also check the eMachine M6800 series but be wary of the hinge cracking problems some people have been having.

    The only HP gaming notebook I'd consider would be the zd7000 with GeForce 5700, but it still bugs me that you have to settle for a 32-bit Intel CPU. Other than the inferior CPU, very cool.

    Don't forget the option of swapping in your own HD. Many of us zv5000z/R3000z users have swapped in 60GB Hitachi 7200RPM drives, since HP hasn't seen fit to sell us anything faster than 4200RPM Hitachis.

    Now I face another problem. I have no idea what notebook to pick ![ :(!] Im lookin for a notebook with 512 memory ( or more ) 100 GB hard drive, which is now available for some hp/compaq laptops, long battery life ( at least 3 hours), a good graphics card ( no less than 64 MB), and it has to cost less than $1800.[^] And it should play some of the latest games like BF1942 and other FPS

    The inspiron 8600 fits those specs really well, I get about 4 hours of life on mine. The pentium M does just fine for gaming, but it does lack 64 bit capability.

    GPU cooling (100°C->75°C)* Inspiron 8600 * 1.8ghz Pentium M * 128 MB Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo (337/242 -> 400/300) * 2x256 MB DDR2700 SDRAM * Aquamark 3: 24058 * 3DMark'03: 3404 * 3DMark'01 SE: 13120

    All I have is one more question, (Don't worry its the last.[ :p]) How much time does the battery go without recharging on the Z3000t ? [?][?][?]

    The Acer Ferrari isnt too pricey. Check it out:
    http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10358349&loc=101&sp=1

    If you shop around the net I bet you can find it for cheaper too.
    It doesnt have the 100gig harddrive however.
