I'm not complaining, but I just think it's funny how Fedex ships packages from Shanghai. I live in California. The notebook went from Shanghai to Anchorage, Alaska yesterday. Today it's in Indianapolis, IN. Isn't this kind of out of the way for west coast deliveries?

It's where their large depots are. Alaska for customs then Indianapolis for Continental US distribution.

Trust me, FedEx knows what they're doing.

Well, they're manufactured in Shanghai, like most laptops. So obviously before you can transport it to a warehouse, it has to be made.

All component are put together in Shanghai and Archorage is for customs. I believe that tracker even says it is for customs. Indianapolis is were they stop using planes and use cargo trucks. Truck size continues to shrink until it reach your home.

i thought that big companies are manufacturing some large quantities before the actual order is being made.

I had my dv9700t shipped from Shanghai to Anchorage. It was then shipped directly to NYC which is where I am located. Received laptop in two days with no problems from FedEx.

yes, and in shanghai, you might have the possibility of seeing sweatshops putting parts together for your computer. You never know.

I live in Seattle, Washington, and my laptop went from Shanghai to Alaska and then directly to Seattle. I was surprised it skipped Indianapolis, because the last HP laptop I ordered went from Shanghai, Alaska, and then to Indianapolis, and then went back to Seattle. So they don't always move your package all over the country, but it's very common.

It departed Indianapolis at 3:48pm and arrived in Oakland, CA at 5:53pm. Wow, this notebook is taking a lot of plane trips! Very fast, I like it!

I am currently returning a laptop to HP from Maui. Is taking forever because they use groung for returns. Took a week to get from Maui to Sacramento then went to Reno where it is currently sitting.

Hey, I wouldn't complain too much. Mine has been stuck in a customs clearance cycle for 5 days. I've called everyone there is to call, now all I can do is wait. No telling where it will end up after it leaves Alaska.

I too live in washington, but in a suburban area close to seattle. I assume the laptop that went from Alaska and then straight to you was the more recent of the two, correct? Because my laptop is in Anchorage right now, I am going to explode if it abandons me for Indianapolis.

    EDIT:
Oh darn... it arrived at Indianapolis at midnight last night, and it is now on "Int'l shipment release" in Indianapolis... Does Fedex operate on sundays?

Wait wait wait wait wait... What does "Int'l shipment release" mean?

Your estimated delivery date is the day you will receive your notebook, no matter where or how far it travels. ;)

Wow, really? Mine shipped from Shanghai on the 1st and got here on the 4th. When you get your notebook, check your warranty information in the HP Total Care Program. Mine says it started on the 4th. Somehow, they knew I would get it on the 4th before it shipped. lol

I wish that was always the case. Mine got hung up on customs delay for 5 solid days, then shipped yesterday. I won't get it for another 2 days because of it being Saturday and FedEX won't let me go pick it up. Estimated Delivery date was April 2nd, Actual arrival date will be the 7th. It's not always accurate when there is a paperwork foul up with HP and US Customs. There have been too many documented cases of this happening for it to be a fluke.

It either starts the first time you do a warranty check or have a predetermined date, i.e. 1 week after your invoice is sent out.
