Hi, I realize this is a pretty stupid-sounding question, but I just ordered a refurb HP laptop from tiger direct and am not sure I got the one I ordered, which was a HP Pavilion dv9843cl. The processor seem right, but the Control Panel/System route says that the model is actually a dv9700 (no T, no Z). It also has "HP Pavilion Entertainment PC" stamped on the case, which I was not expecting. Other than that (and the sticker) there is no hard indication of what model it is.

The sticker on the underside says dv9843cl, but one of the corners is lifted off, like it was removed or partially so. Is there a way I can tell 100% for sure whether this model is a dv9843cl? I would feel like a major idiot if I returned it only to find out it was the right model. Thanks so much for any suggestions.

I bought this laptop from Costco back in February. I returned it because it had the blue screen problem. Screen turned whitish blue for 4 - 5 minutes at a time. It was not fun.

If you have a laptop that has a model number from dv9700 to dv9900 then it falls under the dv9700 category.

    Same with other models.
If you have a laptop that has a model number from dv9500 to dv9699 then it falls under the dv9500 category.

If you have a laptop that has a model number from dv9000 to dv9499 then it falls under the dv9000 category.

If you have a dv6000, dv6500, dv6700 the same applies.

This does apply for dv2000, dv2500, dv2700 as well.

This question was asked 100 times so I just decided to post it this way, to clear up any confusion as well as have this on record for future generations.
