I own a DV6000 laptop (DV6265),
and yesterday or saturday, the battery does not charge,
before that, it would run done SO FAST when it was not plugged into
its charger.
I noticed something was strange when I plugged the battery charge cord from my laptop and it just went off, I tried to start it up thinking it took a charge; but the laptop was completely dead.
It only works now with the plug in; the icon in the tray shows the battery plugged in but still at 0% for the past 2 hours.
I downloaded that bios update for intel users that I found through this forum (thank you) but the battery still has not done anything.
The battery gets warm but no charge update.
Any ideas?
thank you and happy new year

I would do a BIOS update from the HP software update program. Because sometimes the one from the software is more recent than the website. If that did not work, then run the battery check, in vista you go start-help&support-troubleshooting tools-battery check. (xp you have to download the tool from the webiste) If that fails call em up and you should be able to get a new battery from free if you are in warranty.

The AC connection is really bad with HP computers, so you might have to send it in for repair. Although I would recommend against it since HP tech will most likely man-handle your laptop and bring it damaged in some cosmetic way. Google around for a bit, I'll try to help as soon as I sort out my new year's resolution. (which I doubt I will follow but hey its a tradition)

ya, is that connection loose where the ac comes into the notebook? Like is that little ring of light on or off around where the power comes into the notebook?

How old is your laptop? It sounds like you just need a new battery. Batteries are known to die suddenly like that.
Try a new battery out and see what happens. You could even swap batteries with a friend's dv6000 to see if it really is the battery or not. -
Batteries should still charge, they don't just die like that. Unless you haven't you charged you battery for a long time, I don't think it's his battery that's the problem. I've had my dv6000t since the first day it was released. (I was one of those who waited for merom and ordered the day dv6000 came out) I think it's a issue because my friend had the same problem before. All he did was just get a replacement since he still had that 21 day exchange window. But I could be wrong though, if you have dropped your battery or if there's any damage on it, then its just the battery that needs to be replaced. You could probably find someone with the dv6xxx, dv9xxxx series which I believe uses the same batteries. Test it out, rule out any possibilities, then proceed to HP repairs.
Did the recent bio's update, battery still won't charge -DV6000
