    I've searched on internet and especially on this forum, but I cannot find what is the difference between these series, although the specs looks the same.

    As far as I understand, 61xx is suppose to be an improvement of 60xx, with the option of better displays (1080p) and also dynamically switchable graphics.

    Can anyone please point me to a thread where this have been discussed before because I'm sure I'm not the first to ask?

    All I can find is about 60xx vs 61xx, but nothing about 6bxx or the new 6cxx and more likely I will buy dv6-6b02ss. Therefore, any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

    Usually, they will change the a small part of the name if there is some small change, like a new CPU like changing from the 2630 to 2670 on the qe. Or like the 6000 was fixed but the 6100 was dynamic until they released the bios update.
    The 6000, 6100, 6b00, 6c00 are small iterations from the same model until they change the whole look/series and add more specs than just small ones they might change to whole number scheme to maybe 7000.
    So from what I can see is that the difference between the 6100 and 6b00 is the New CPU's that they added.

    The 6c00 series is supposed to include the AMD Radeon HD 7470M and 7690M; however, this has not been completely confirmed.

    Generally, this is how HP has progressed with this series, with each step after the 60XX series being a minor refresh:

    60XX -> 61XX -> 6bXX -> 6cXX

    I just received a dv6z which HP identifies as a 6b00. What's confusing to me is that BIOS version is F.12 but when I look at the HP website for the 6b00 the only BIOS available is F.02 from last Semtember. They have a 6c00 support page which has a f.12 BIOS, also from September. There is also a 6100 support page which has several versions, the highest is F.21.

    In the main forum here for this laptop (most?) everyone seems to have the 6100 and have up-graded to F.21. Although as the most recent purchaser, probably, I could well have a newer version. The BIOS versions are confusing, though.

    It looks like HP forgot to update their website to include F.12 for the 6bXX AMD series.

    I tried to break it down in the Pavilion BIOS thread, so that users can identify the versions that can (and cannot) be used with their notebook.

    Just for curiosity sake, any idea what changed from dv6z-6100 to -6b00? Or where I can find out the differences?
