I'm planning to buy a HP laptop, I would like to know any difference between 8300 and 9300 processors (apart from speed) like in terms of battery life and 45 nm technology or something. Also, I read somewhere that intel 9300 is not much better than 8300 processor on current motherboard, and it will have advantage only with newer motherboards which are not available yet, is that true, and if so is it better to get 8300 processor?

The T8xxx are much better value price\performance wise than the T9xxx. They are both 45nm penryn processors.

I second that, the t9300 has double the cache and 100Mhz more than the t8300 but the real life performance difference is negligible, you wouldn't notice a difference.

Yeah the T8300 is better value but get the T9300 if you want. It won't make much of a difference for normal tasks, but if you are doing CPU-intensive work such as Photoshop or video editing, I suppose the extra 100mhz and L2 cache may help.

Which is better for good battery life and less heat generated?

T8300. But not by all that much.
