For the past few months I've been debating on when was the right time to buy a laptop because of all of there free upgrades and rebates coming and going. So I thought last week was the best time to buy. But of course this week they have a free upgrade to a 60 gig 4200 drive which I paid $50 extra for. But for that $50 I could have gotten the 60 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive. Is there that much of a difference btwn the 4200 and the 5400? Cause if so I will return it when i receive it and re-order it with the 60 gig 5400 HD.

    Specs - zx5000 p4 2.8 - 512 2x - 60 gig 4200

the 60GB 5400 RPM would be a Noticeable difference between the 4200 RPM HD's, 4200 RPM is Slow i have the 80GB Version in my Zx5280 which i may change, I recommand going with the 5400 RPM Drive. you dont have to reorder just switch out the Hardrive when the laptop comes. order it from www.Newegg.com they usually have great prices. You could also go with the Hitachi 60GB 7200 RPM HD which is a bit more expensive.

I'm going to see how it works first and if it is too slow I will upgrade. Thanks for the site though.

It looks like even though the 60GB 4200rpm drive is cheaper, other options are now more expensive. XP pro went from 49 to 75. and the free upgrade to a dvd/cdrw is no longer applicable. that probably explains the no difference in price.

No problem Games take longer to load with the 4200 RPM HD and stuff in general if i were to pair this laptop with a 7200 RPM HD this thing would fly as i already have 1GB of ram.
