If I have put this question in the wrong place, I beg your pardon, since I am new at the Forum.

Here is the issue: I bought an HP DV2220us a month or so ago, expressly for the purpose of doing sound recording using Digidesign MBOX 2 with protools. The laptop came with Vista. After struggling to install the Digidesign software into the laptop and running into a constant flow of error messages, I tried running the installation in XP compatibility mode and got even more error messages. Finally I learned from the digidesign website that their software does not work with Vista nohow. It only works with XP, and it will be summer before it can be fixed to run with Vista. So my question is this: Is there a way to rebuild the 2220us with XP? That would make me perfectly happy.

    Best regards
    Doug

just search for the drivers on HP

search for the dv2000 drivers, it will have drivers for most if not all of your components.

Do you mean removing Vista and installing XP in its place?

If you do, then yes, that's possible. You'll need a copy of XP as well as something to back your existing files up on (CDs, DVDs, or an external hard drive) Then you'll just want to reformat and install XP; insert the XP disk and choose install. You will have to put the XP drivers back on your system. (There are several guides floating around the forum and on the web; if you have questions ask or search here/google)
