Because I've been learning so much from this community, I felt like I should share my discovery asap. (it's like 4am right now, I'm like totally screwed for my college lecture at 8am...but this is still worth the sacrifice
)
How I found it:
When I typed dv6000t in the search field to search for drivers, I got a huge list of every freaken **** dv6000 model including the dv6000z models. WHY!! So I clicked the first one, hoping that it was for the intel version since the one right below it read dv6000z CTO. But apparently, this link and the dv6000z CTO link leads to the same place and if you don't believe me, the BIOS update says it is only for AMD processors. Because this logical approach didn't work out, I decided to work from bottom to top. And guess what HP Pavilion dv6101tu Notebook PC drivers were for. Yep, you guessed it right, the drivers were for the intel core duo/core 2 duo version of dv6000. Under BIOS, it read "WinFlash for HP Notebook System BIOS (for Notebooks with Intel Processors) - Windows-Based" Wooo... cool... and then I saw the release date of 9-20-06Blah... HP really needs to work on organization.
Installation Instructions:
Note: The file for BIOS update is the same for both dv6000t and dv9000t.
1. Download the BIOS update by clicking this direct link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33832.exe
2. Save it anywhere you want, just remember where it is.
3. Double-click the file.
4. Make sure you close photoshop, steam, all those resource intensive programs. (even firefox)
5. Make sure your laptop is powered through your AC cable and not through your 6-cell or 12-cell battery.
6. Click okay. For me, the okay button was cut off and don't worry about it, it won't affect the installation.
7. It'll prompt you to confirm upgrade. Click YES!
8. You will see itself extracting and installing. And while this is happening, you fan may run at max speed. This is normal. Don't get freaked out and pull your AC cord.
9. Computer will shutdown by itself after everything is complete.
10. When you reboot, be prepare to press f10 to enter BIOS.
11. Once in BIOS, press right twice (I believe. If I am wrong, please forgive me its now 4:48am in the morning. I am using pieces of toothpicks to keep my eyes open)
12. You will see that a new menu has appear. Disable sounds! Press enter and disable that annoying beep.
13. Then make sure when you exit, exit by selecting save changes and quit.
14. Computer will reboot again... And voila! That annoying beep is gone!
Final Words:
HP's dv6000t is seriously one of the best laptops out there right now. The only flaw I saw was this annoying beep. But now that this is fixed, this is a perfect machine. I highly recommend it. I will be writing an unbias in-depth review for NBR.com as soon as I get enough sleep. But yeah anyways, I hope you guys are happy. Good night...![]()

Hmmm, too bad it's only the clicks that can be disabled. Would have been nice if they would have also added an option to either disable the buttons (good) or require the fn key to be held down first (better).
I guess I'm the only one on the planet who keeps hitting (touching) these buttons accidently. I can't tell how many times I've had to cancel out HP's quick play screen that popped up when I didn't want it to. (I hit the other buttons too, but they don't cause such an obvious effect)
Zany -
The BIOS update I pointed to in an earlier thread disables the QuickPlay sounds for the dv9000t. I failed to mention it because I don't care about it as much as you do!
EDIT: Oops. I see that Chiaroscurist's post refers to the same update. D'oh! -
i have found new bios for DV2000 that allows turning this sounds off here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=1817074&dlc=en
BUT i can't install it, it says: "This BIOS is not for your NoteBook PC."
I'm pretty sure what i have bought and it's DV2000T so WTF?
I can update bios manualy (by extracting this exe file) but i'm little afraid because of this error. -
