I have a dv6000t. My sister has a dv5000 and rather than having a switch on the front left palm rest of the laptop that is easily tripped the 5000 has a button on the top. I like to sit the laptop on my lap and shift around a lot to pick up notes, books, etc and I find myself consistently bumping the switch and shutting the wireless off. I never need to disable my wireless, so is it at all possible to somehow disable the disabler? Short of opening the laptop up if possible.

You might try uninstalling your hotkey software, if the DV5000 uses hotkey software. You would lose any other hotkeys on the notebook, as well, but it would fix the problem.

the switch is mainly installed so when you're on an airplane, you can still use your notebook by disabling wifi
