    Hi everyone,

seems that the nc8230 screen resolution cannot get higher than 1280x800.
Now I have updated the graphics driver as I was told that one of the enhancements of the new latest drivers is higher screen resolutions. So I downloaded and applied the latest driver (version 8.143-050607A 020515C). Below are the enhancements I was expecting as it was mentioned on the site ( http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/hpcpqnk/us/download/22859.html)

    * Enables the display to be rotated.
    * Enables 1800x1440 and 1792x1344 video modes on the HP Compaq nc6230 Notebook PC, the HP Compaq nc8230 Notebook PC, and the HP Compaq nx8220 Notebook PC.
    * Enables 1680x1050, 1440x900, and 1280x800 video modes on the HP Compaq nc8230 Notebook PC and the HP Compaq nx8220 Notebook PC.

I do not see any higher resolution setting with the updated drivers. I would really appreciate some assistance on this matter.

    Regards,

    Mustafa

    hey segadc,

no its native, but I have a WUGA 15.4 screen the higher resolutions are for the WS and WXGA, so I dont think I am going to be successful in trying to get higher resolutions. Thanx for your time anyway.

    Regards,

    Mustafa

It just adds those profiles for the VideoCard, but has to be supported by the Display.

VideoCard reads data from Display and if it sees that the display can support that resolution, it will let you select that resolution.( It is not that straight forward, but that is the final outcome).

You LCD panel is only 1280x800, so it can only output maximum that much. If you had a 1680x1050 something like that, you could have changed it to lower resolution, but not more than that.
