My computer display is messed up. about 3/4 of the screen is completely black where as the top 1/4 is still working. Sometimes the screen comes back if i wiggle it a little bit. Do you know whats wrong? Is it possible that there is a loose connection?

It could be a loose LCD connection or a crimped cable. If you have disassembly instructions for your model you could try reseating the cable between the LCD and the motherboard. Are you still under warranty? If reseating the cable doesn't work and you are, I'd recommend getting an RMA for repair. If it's not the cable, it's probably the LCD itself failing.
If you hook up an external monitor does the problem appear on it as well? That would mean the issue is most likely with your video card, since it appears on both devices.
When it's just the LCD showing the problem, and whole sections just aren't there, and the cables aren't damaged and are snuggly plugged in, I'd say it's a damaged LCD panel. If you're out of warranty you'd need to either try to replace that yourself or get an out of warranty repair done by the factory or a reputable third party shop that knows how to work on laptops. -

The instructions to pull your computer apart is on the hp website. What model is it?
You can also buy the nicer LCD screens from ebay if its not a cable problem. -
oh it is? its a dv6000t. Does it show where its suppose to be connected? I didnt want to touch it too much because Im not that handy with computers. How much would a 3rd party shop charge?

Heres the instructions for mine, click on LCD Panel on the left hand side. It has a video clip and text of how to do it. I know its for a dv2000 but its pretty much the same procedure for your one.
With a right set of steady hands and following instuctions properly, looks simple. I suggest finding the correct one for your model on the hp site as i dont wanna be responsible for any damages.

How old is the machine? As soon as you open is up HP could complain and try to not cover it under warranty. So if it's very new, you should first send it back to them.
