I got myself a used HP Pavilion ze4200 yesterday, and im quite pissed off by the locked 640 resolution in DOS / BIOS mode. It works fine in Windows, but all pre-windows is displayed in 640x480 in the center of the screen.
What i want to do is to stretch the picture to the edges, making it fullscreen, even in DOS. Ive tried resetting and upgrading BIOS, nothing happened. The HP customer support couldt give me and advice either, so i hope someone out here got a solution![]()
Thanks in advance ^^

This is something that happens with all lcd screens i think. With crt monitors, when you change resolution, the display could easely bet stretched to fullscreen by physically stretching the electron beam with magnets (i suppose). The monitor retains these settings. Since lcd screens are digital and each pixel is independant, it will only display the actual resolution. If you want the computer to stretch the picture, it needs to do so digitally via software or hardware. Usually the video card will do this for you, it should be an option somewhere in your display properties. If not, then your videocard doesn't support it. I know my old toshiba tecra 8000 doesn't resize it for me but my friend's new hp does.
