I'm wondering if I should buy now before I have to spend an extra $50! The model I'm looking at is the most popular, the 6000t, and since I've been holding back buying it, it looks like several *free* deals have been discontinued, from the BrightView screens, to the extra 40GB of harddrive space, to the DVD/CD Drive, etc, and now it costs about $30 extra... will this keep going up, or will it actually go down? Several of you have experience buying around this time of year, so your advice would be helpful.

There is a very good chance of the day after Thanksgiving day deals.. so if you buy one then, you might get a better deal.
I'm also looking to buy this laptop, but I won't be getting it until Xmas. -
Do you buy it the exact day after Thanksgiving or does the deal last a bit longer? That's a good bit of advice... I'm not a big shopper, so although I've heard about that Thanksgiving deal from the ladies, my mind immediately deleted it.
-
Not sure.. I'm not one of those people who get up at 1AM to wait in line for the store to open.
-
i am thinking about picking up a dv2000t.. but i am not sure if i should wait another couple of weeks or buy it now? Heard that prices will drop around christmas.. is that true?
-
i've been looking at getting a dv6000t here the past few weeks but decided to wait as least until the day after thanksgiving just in case there are some exceptionally good deals. i figured it's just too close to get one right now. i think it's worth the wait. but i'm not waiting until christmas. the weekend after thanksgiving will be it for me.

Does the "day-after-Thanksgiving" deal exist online or only in retail stores?
-
will they even have an after thanksgiving sale?
-
Sales of laptops are slow according to news reports, and holding stock is bad buisiness, my guess is notebooks will go down in price soon. I'm in the market for an HP 6000 series notebook also. -
im not really sure, but my understanding is that these black friday (day after thanksgiving) sales are usually retail stores and not really coming from some place like hp online shopping.
but who knows, if you're in no rush, might as well wait it out. even though i prefer buying and customizing online, you might find a deal too good to pass up on at some store. -
It will probably be a Black Friday Sale. SO only that Friday -
well i am customizing a dv2000t so it probablly will not effect me eh?

I think it would be a good deal to wait till X-mas. Im looking for dv9000t, and I think ill buy the week after x-mas. I dont think they will make high prizes, at least im sure they wont be higher then now)

When everyone says the prices will drop around Christmas, do they mean a couple weeks before Christmas, or during Christmas?
-
i would think weeks before christmas, so ppl can use them as gifts... but i dont think it would effect me since i am customizing mine.
-
I heard that prices were supposed to drop after Christmas--just before Vista comes out.
-
My guess is in January prices will go down so suckers buy up all the inventory before the new models roll out for Vista
-
Cyber Monday is the online equivalent to Black Friday.

Well, does Cyber Monday apply to websites like HP and Dell, or does it apply to retail stores' websites? Also, do you think places like Dell will also drop their prices before Christmas?
-
The first couple weeks in January is when there'll be a huge drop in retail sales. Think about it: almost everyone will be broke from the christmas shopping. This is also why retail sales clerks get fewer hours at work or laid off entirely.
So there may be sales or promotional offers at that time, in addition to immediately after christmas. Just watch out for those long lines of people returning and exchanging gifts! Greg
Do HP laptop prices go up around Christmas?
