    Last question, I swear.

Ok, I've decided to choose dv6000t over the E1505 and get a 12 cell battery. Only thing E1505 would be better at is the X1400 versus the 7400, but frankly I don't think that matters since I am not a huge gamer.

But the thing is, I don't know what is the right time to buy a customized from HP.com. Do the prices ever drop? It has felt like the price to customize a dv6000t has been the same ever since its release nearly a year ago, or half, I dunno.

I dont NEED a laptop until the summer, but it would be nice to have one to replace my 5 year old desktop. I'm ready to shell out money for one, but I don't want to buy one and then have the price drop within a month or two.

BTW, I am aware of the APP discount, and am happy since although I'm a high school student, my dad is a college professor and he qualifies. Good stuff.

Thanks for all the help guys. As always you are the best.

HP sometimes offers $50 mail in rebates. They sometimes offer free upgrades to 1 GB of RAM, or a free upgrade to Imprint Finish + Webcam, and stuff like that.

Do their prices for RAM/processors/etc. ever drop or change? Sometimes, but rarely. Even then, I haven't seen components drop by around $10.

They also have a rare $250 off coupon.

HP prices rarely drop, go with the DELL and get the 9 cell battery - that will give you over 4 hrs of battery life.

If your going for the APP student discount you wouldn't be able to use the rare coupons anyways so I wouldn't worry too much. Atleast they come with Vista preinstalled now so you don't have to go through the whole Express Upgrade mess.

Dells are too big and clunky. This is a college notebook so I prefer not to take something that thick.

When I was shopping for my system I learned that it's in the 3rd party seller chanel that the prices drop when HP changes the build models offered on their systems. What seems to happen is verdors need to dump excess inventory of the old builds so they can stock the new builds in each model.

I was able to save about $600ish on mine because I bought from an online seller who had excess inventory. I did check w/HP that the warranty was valid before buying and would recommend that anyone do this.

I could have bought via APP because my better half's ex-hubby is a university prof and we are all on good terms...which is cool come time for new laptops. ;) But I like I said this NX9420 was $600ish cheaper...but only because it was a one-of/last-of kinda deal at the end of last year.
