So I've had this laptop for a few months now and have been noting down the problems ive run into. Do any of these qualify my Envy as a lemon?
1) Keys falling off the keyboard
2) Screen going black for no apparent reason (restart required)
3) Screen changing to purple shade randomly
4) Slim fit battery does not fit right so It doesnt always work.
5) Loose power adapter connection.
6) Underneath the laptop where the battery goes there is a panel where the where the battery locks are is loose.
7) Backlight leakage at the bottom of the screen.
8)The magnesium alloy on the top of the laptop(behind the screen) looks to be unevenly over-layed and it makes me think this one got through quality control without being checked. My first envy didn't have this problem. This problem doesn't seem fixable and makes me want to get the notebook exchanged.
This is actually my second envy and I ran into the same problems the first time. It's been about 3 months since I got it so I'm not sure if HP would exchange it I don't want my money back. BTW I can't flash to the F24 Bios! If any of the moderators on here could help me that would be greatly appreciated :smileyhappy:. Last time I called HP I ended up just getting the laptop exchanged because support was too much of an hassle.

I think you have to actually send it back for repairs multiple times before it qualifies as a lemon, though that depends on your state's lemon laws.
You should be able to get HP to fix all of those things in fairly short order with a warranty request. That would also be much faster than exchanging it, even if it HP did agree, since you'd be waiting 2+ weeks for a new Envy whereas their service is usually 3-5 business days. -
Ive thought about it but what gets to me is the overlay on the top of the laptop. Its uneven and looks as if had small air bubbles

Pictures would be nice to explain the air bubble problems. Otherwise, you can send it in for general repairs, but the HP Technicians might not cosmetically take care of your laptop well (especially with the LCD Bezel).
Also, F. 24 A BIOS is very unstable for flashing with a high bricking rate for any Envy. I suggest you stay on F. 18 A until further revisions. -
Here are some pics. I wouldn't consider these air bubbles, but rather an uneven overlay. And no the darker parts on the lid are not grease stains but actually the parts of the lid that are lower than the brighter parts. I hope you can see what I'm talking about. If you look closely its bumpy rather than flat.

Return and get another one.
