Do the keyboard problems exist in the dv8320us?

I dreaded reading the thread about all the keyboard problems because the specs on this computer cannot be beat and I can buy it at Fry's this weekend for $1199. I really want a 17" with a nice video card that I can use for serious work and occasional gaming and also to dual boot to Linux.

I cannot find any computer that offers what the HP does for the price. I'm so sick of finding computers that come close but offer the integrated Intel craptastic video card.

At Fry's they are offering the dv8320us with the following:

    17" widescreen
    1gb ram
    2x80 gb sata drives (yummy)
    Nvideo Go7600
    Core Duo 1.6ghz cpu

Please tell me the keyboard problems don't apply to this particular model :)

It's purely luck-of-the-draw. Ideally I'd wait a bit longer for the dv9000 series to hit retail but those will almost certainly be more $. Besides having better keyboards the dv9000 series should let you run 64-bit Linux.

All of the Dv8000 series notebook from Hp has the same keyboard so, it doesn't matter if it is a dv8310 or dv8320. like brianstretch said it is the luck of the draw with this series. Currently Hp doesn't have a fix or even know if it is a hardward or software issue, and they will probably never go to the trouble of finding a fix. look you pay for what you get.

****. Thanks for your replies. Well I guess I'm not going to take the chance then. I can't believe how much HP screwed up on this one.

I was playing around on the dell website and came up with a better config anyway for just a little more money.

I can get an Inspiron 9400 with the following for $1378
    Core Duo 1.73ghz
    Nvidia go 7900gs, 256mb
    17" widescreen
    1gb ram

Wish Dell would offer the 7600gs because I know that would bring the price to around $1250 or so. But a 7900gs is really tempting :)
