For those who have DV6T Quad with Steel Gray color, do you like the look/design of it? I searched online, but couldn't find any good real life pictures. I tried to search on this forum but the search engine of notebookreview.com sucks...

Could you post some pictures here if you have one? I wonder how thick/bulky it is? I know it is slimmer than Dell XPS15, but I would like to see some closeup pictures.

    Thanks

Notebookcheck has some pictures (and a video) of it in their dv6zqe review.

It's the same size as the Dark Umber dv6s, and imo both colors look pretty good. It just comes down to personal preference.

I'm trying to find the pictures on notebookcheck as we speak. I'm also considering it, just in hopes it'll hide the fingerprints better than the black does...

Dark Umber doesnt really collect fingerprints at all, as long as your hands arent super dirty, oily or greasy.

The above link does your question justice, but if it helps, I have the steel gray model and am very happy with the look and feel of it. The design looks very clean, professional and doesn't appear to be a magnet for fingerprints.

Yep, I have the Steel Grey and it is beautiful. Very professional looking and looks like all aluminium.

I don't think either colors look bad but I prefer the steel grey because of the contrast between the keyboard and the rest of the laptop.

    I agree with you.

I am not an Apple fanboy and I don't own a Mac. But why none of the computer "giants" can design a laptop that is decent looking. None of the existing laptops can compare to a macbook pro in terms of design...it is pretty sad...

I used to think Macbooks were overpriced equals. But nope, you're right. The build quality, design, battery life, and power combination is unequaled.

I bought the top end Dell XPS 15z. Design wise it was one of the best looking Windows laptops I've ever owned but it wasn't nearly as powerful or good looking as a high end Macbook Pro, and the build quality left A LOT to desire. I owned a OG 15" Envy and that came close but it was almost as expensive and not as good (display, trackpad, batterylife, etc).

Rumors are that Apple will be merging the Air design to the bigger Pros, probably with next year's smaller, cooler Intel chips and the removal of the optical drive / use of SSD; and man, it's game over after that for me. PC OEMs can't even bring a good AND affordable AIR competitor to the market, imagine Apple merging the Pro and Air lines... Don't get me wrong, the PC laptops can get the job done but unless you get a business class laptop the build quality won't be as good and it will definitely not have a equal product experience. There will always be a market for affordable laptops (and they will get better), but I luckily got the money to waste now...

And, oh yeah, I saw the umber and steel models - the steel makes the umber look cheap in comparison. And that's exactly what I ordered.

I kinda felt the opposite. I liked the exterior of the steel better but the contrast was kinda off-putting, especially with the touchpad. Imo it would have looked better if HP used a silver touchpad and a silver "base" for the keyboard while leaving the individual keys black, Apple style.

Actually, when it comes to fingerprints and the smudging, I can't say that the umber is all that bad. For me... my biggest gripe there is the trackpad. It does show every print, like nobodys business. However, worst of all, the trackpad's surface seems to wear down somewhat. As if after enough swiping, there is a permanent smear mark that no amount of cleaning will remove. Since both colours include the black pad, I have to imagine it is the same with the two styles. Sucks. I've seen the same thing happen to trackpads on some previous Pavilion models, but it has always been hit-or-miss. Hopefully with the dv6 as well.

I have the Steel Gray dv6. It's very nice and looks sharp. It does not collect any fingerprints which is nice

I was thinking about the XPS15z, however, it is very expensive and with quality issue.

I am sure it will be an expensive laptop, but it does look good.
