I just got a new laptop a month ago and I can really use the shipping box to send something to someone.... is there some good reason I should hold on to the shipping box and packing material?

    Thanks.

I always save mine. It makes it easier to eBay when the next shiny new notebook comes out. It also makes it easier if you ever have to ship your notebook to HP for repair.

I always keep the boxes for a year or three ready for sending back or selling on.

I tend to hold on to it for just a couple days. if i held on to all of the boxes from all of my stuff "just in case", i would have no room for anything.

I hold onto all the packaging material for all electronics. Since I tend to sell most of it within a year or two to update the latest and greatest is makes it so much easier if you have the original packaging.

I know when I want to buy something used off of Ebay, if it has the original packaging I am more likely to bid. It seems that others follow suit as I sold my old laptops for much more than other sellers since I had pictures of them with the original packaging.
