The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Do you think Compaq will replace the V5000z? (re:V3000)

    I've noticed recently that HP/Compaq has announced their new DV2000/V3000 notebooks (to be released sometime this month if I recall correctly). These are 14 inch models. Do you think they will be releasing 15 inch models based on these new designs? If so, will the Compaq V5000z be discontinued? I know the Compaq V5000z is not that old but why would they have notebooks that are so different in aesthetics?

    I'd bet money on it. That is the nature of technology. Old models get replaced.
