I wanted to know if the Dv5t supports X9100 as there is a great deal for it on the marketplace... has anyone tried this processor yet successfully in a Dv5t as i don't want to take the risk.

the sockets are the same so theoretically it can work but i'd be worried about the extra cooling the quad needs. also, is the size/heatsink the same as the t9400?

the processor will fit but will you have to change other components to accomodate for it (ie extra/better heating ducts/bigger fan/different heatsick)...? that's what i'd worry about.

A quad in a DV5 series? That's like shooting yourself in one foot and running along with a burning boot in the other one. It will probably work, but it'll probably melt. :p

The X9100 isn't a quad core processor, though it does have nearly the same TDP as one.
