I've just ordered HP Envy 15 TouchSmart J00TX. I was thinking to use a Samsung 840 Pro series 18 SSD. If I replace HDD with this SDD, it will void the warranty. Herefore does this laptop has an access panel, so that I can use both the drives?

Yes you can change out the normal hard drive. But would suggest you get a mSATA drive, then you can keep both drives. The access panel is a "user acess panel", which means that is for your own upgrades, so no voiding the warranty.

Thank you. Are Samsung 840 Pro mSATA drives?

No, the Samsung 840 Pro is a full size 2.5" SATA drive (albeit slimmer 7mm height).

So which drive should be best suited for this laptop?

The Samsung 840 Pro works great, I put one in my Envy 17. Pretty much any modern SSD will work great nowadays.

Thank you. But as stated in previous replies. If I use an mSATA SSD, I will be able to keep both the drives thus not affecting the warranty. However if I use Samsung 840 Pro then I have to replace the original hard drive. Although Its a good option to replace 5400 RPM HDD with a good SSD. But replacing it will void the warranty. So lets say I replaced the original HDD with a Samsung 840 Pro SSD and couple of months later I discovered some issue, and I had to take my laptop to service centre. But before taking it to service I replaced the SSD with original HDD. Is there a way HP engineers will discover this?

The access panel is designed to allow easy user access, highly doubt that would void the warranty.
