Do HP or Compaq laptops have a power utility (like Toshiba or ASUS or etc)? Or do they simply use the XP power settings from the control pannel?

From what I have seen they just use the regular XP Power settings.

Thanks, nice little program, but why doesn't it show the remaining time of the battery? I've tried different programs and none show that for some reason..
    I'm using the 6-cell in a dv-5020us...

Check out Notebook Hardware Control I just discovered it, so I can't vouch for how well it works, but looks very promising. It does display battery time and percentage.

Thanks for the link PanamaMike, but it doesn't show remaining time of battery ( at least in my case ) it shows it as "unavailable" for some reason while the battery is discharging..

The battery monitoring apps usually take some time to calculate the energy consumption before showing time remain. I have been using nhc for that as it also do undervolt and extend the run time of battery. Another free battery apps I have tried is Battery Eater. It shows even more battery info.

My laptop did not come with any power utilities so I have just been using NHC. It gives the battery life which I like. The temps are nice too.
