I'm in the process of looking for a 15" notebook with an Nvidia 9600 gt (or ATI equivalent gpu). Up till now, I have always bought Dell notebooks mainly for their overseas business warranties. Since Dell is only offering the XPS 1530 with an outdated 8600gt gpu, I thought I would check in this forum to inquire whether Hp offers a comparable notebook with a newer mid sized gpu? (I'm interested in having the mid sized gpu mainly for simulation gaming for those overnight out of town business trips.)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Best regards.

Did you looked at the Dell Studio 16 ? it has a good midrange ATI card in it. I know it's not 15'' but close enough.

From HP, there is the DV5 which comes with the Geforce 9600M GT but with DDR2 IIRC.

Did you even try to look. It would take you a total of 1 minute to figure out the dv5 and hdx16 both come wit 9600m gt's 512mb ddr2

    Thanks for the help guys.

Vols_xx, I did look at the Dell, but think the 16" is a little too big. I appreciate the info about the 9600gt being Ddr2.

Tippey764, I did try to look up the info on the hp web site. For some reason, the dv5 (black) did not have the 9600gt option listed. I appreciate the suggestion about the Hdx16.

    Best regards.

Yeah HP just removed the option in the last couple of days. We are unsure so far whether it is a permanent removal or just temporary due to stock problems.

You can select the bronze option for the HP dv5t on HP's website, and the 9600 should show up as an option. Weird, but give it a shot.

Thanks dannyyres and dcmove. I'll take another look for the bronze color option.

HP offers a 512MB Radeon HD 3650 on their dv5z series.
