While you upgrade, at the last point before the flash where you have to reconfirm, you can go to the temp directory and find there a backed up copy of your current BIOS.
I'll try to dig a thread that depicted the process i more details but I'm sure it is there and I'm almost sure that it will be there after you flash!

Yup, here's the post (first of the page): http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=25157&page=3

can someone please help me with this? i tried the method that was explained but it didnt work.

I retrieved the bios.bak file, but when i tried it re flashed but i still had F15.

I really dont like F15, it just doesnt seem kosher on my machine.

I contaced HP and they want me to send it in for a F12 flash because its supposedly a "service center only" item.

Is there a 3 party software i can used or some other way i can get my F12 back?

    PLEASE HELP!

    whoo. i got it.

I had to replace the bio.wph AND the f15. wph files. I deleted them this time, not just "replaced". and i deleted the folder it created in the swsetup.

back to f12. running nice and cool. my hard drive would make a weird "click" out of no where for no reason after the flash. now its not doing it anymore.

if anyone needs F12. just ask. :)
