I just need to know if I can utilize full 5.1 speakers on my dv3t with the use of an external soundcard to USB. Here are the products on Newegg I am looking at buying.
Logitech 5.1 Speakers:

Soundcard to USB:

I looked at the 7 channel USB device just in case later down the road I want to upgrade to a 7.1. For now, I want to use the 5.1 speakers in my dorm room. Also, I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Will these speakers with the soundcard work just as if I had them in a desktop? Thanks.

As long as the external sound card you are using supports Dolby 5.1 then you are in the clear.

I've read some newegg reviews on other products, and seen that some USB external soundcards have lag when playing surround sound from videos and games. Does this only happen when plugging it in to a USB HUB? I'm a bit suspicious of this because the external card I am looking at is a new arrival and there are no reviews on it yet.

Probably should ask the fellas in the Accessories forum. They would be the ones with experience in external sound cards.
Does my HP dv3t support 5.1 speakers?
