    Hi, first post here.

I'm hoping someone can please set me straight, I need to know if the HP/Compaq nw8240 uses a SATA or PATA primary HDD.

You see I have a nw8240 motherboard that I want to use as a HTPC. I bought it off eBay almost a year ago, and have only recently tried to fire her up. Everything works OK except for the HDD.

If I plug in a PATA drive I get nothing, no drive spin-up and boot hangs at initial HP/BIOS screen. The primary drive uses a caddy with the same motherboard connection as my nw8000 (which is PATA). What I'm wondering is if the nw8240 actually requires a SATA HDD instead, and hence a different caddy connector?

    Please help

    Cheers
    Stumo.

How much did it cost you to buy this motherboard? I want to buy one for the same model? I need to buy the board only as I have everything intact.
