I have a HP ZV6000 laptop with an Athlon64 3200 (s939) cpu. I'm want to upgrade to a dual core cpu (Athlon X2 4600), will it work? According to CPU-Z, the chipset is RS480, I'm not sure if this chipset supports dual core or not, has anyone tried similar upgrades? Please help, thanks.

Also, if anyone have the CG-ICS951412.zip please send me a pm.

I have that chipset and have Turion64 X2. So looks like chipset does, but other things could limit like for example BIOS.

It likely won't work. There was one instance of an owner getting an Athlon64 X2 to run, but it would only recognize one core..............

yeah, it will recognize only one of the cores. Better go for an Athlon 4000, there was a similar thread today in the forum.

Damn, that sucks. Are there any modded bios out there that'll support dual core? (I'm guessing not, but just in case)
