Does the dv7t come with the bracket for a 2nd hd if only one is ordered?

The title pretty much covers it. If you get a dv7t model but only order 1 drive at the time of purchase, can you add the 2nd drive any time yourself or do you need to find/buy a bracket from HP first.

Some brands include it, others sell it as a spare part... just wondering what the case is with HP.

Yes, I talked with HP Expert Tech and they confirmed that if you don't order the second drive, they will use a different motherboard that will not even have a slot for the second drive.

Really? Wow thats just entirely stupid. Saves them money, but the only reasons to go 17" or the screen and 2nd hd bay.

So essentially if you want dual drives you either need to buy slow 5400rpm duals or spend a boatload on the ssd+7200rpm combo. I would have even liked a dual 320 7200rpm rig over 500gb 5400rpm

Im assuming the bios doesnt support any kind of raid setup or does it?

I think I would call AGAIN and ask the same question... again. The GPUs seem to be soldered to the MB and there is a dual core and quad core MB version. A total of 4 different MB spec'd for the dv7t

From what I have been told, if you don't order the two HD option, you don't get the second slot, nor can you do RAID.

Call, let me know what you get out of it. I talked with both sales and "tech expert" about this and both gave me the same answer.

There must be more than the four motherboards listed because I have a DV7 quad core with no discrete graphics

I ordered mine last night and I asked this same question multiple times and was told I had to ordered the dual drive setup otherwise the laptop would not have the slot to put in a 2nd drive which I think that is not true and that they only try to get you to spend a little extra.. I simply don't want to get into it with HP since we all know how they can be so I just ordered the dual 750 gb 5400 rpm setup and I'll just be buying an SSD of my own and swapping it out with the main hard drive so its less of a hassle I think since the cords will all be there I just need to do the swap and baddabing
