I installed Counter Strike 1.6 and Prototype, both of these games don't run in widescreen on my DV6 6121tx. I've tried both dynamic and manual switching.

In CS1.6, the textbox which has the widescreen option is greyed out, I have only 'Normal' selected and my resolutions are upto 1024x768 only.
In Prototype, again, my resolutions available to select are upto 1024x768 only.

My friends with XPSs and Inspirons can run these two very well without any problem...

How do I fix this issue? No command line fix (specifying the resolution in CS) works.

I believe you have to go into cgf. files but I am not sure. I can look it up for you around tomorrow time if you haven't already gotten help by then.

@xAcid9: That looked like it would work, but all it does it stretch the same 1024x768 to 1366x768, i.e. stretches the graphics.
@Cheesy: The counter strike cfg edit technique doesn't work, neither does the command line technique.
@hani93: I'll try that but why is it that I've to go through all this and my Dell friends can simply click and run?

The weird thing is, in counter strike, the dropdown which has 'Widescreen' is *greyed out* for some reason. It's stuck on 'Normal'.

cyanide911, I assume you have the 1366x768 screen? Have you tried updating drivers? It's weird that the game doesn't see that resolution if you have your desktop at it...
