    Doing a fresh install on V5005US

    I would like to reformat the harddrive and install Windows XP Pro. I assume that there wouldn't be a problem with that and that I would then just download needed drivers from the HP website or from the driver discs that came with it.

    If it isn't this simple, please let me know how to do it.

    Yes it is. Put the Windows disc in and delete the old partition. You might want to consider making two partitions. One for Windows and one for your data. In the future, if Windows becomes corrupted, you can wipe the Windows partition without losing any of the data on the other partition.

    It's a good idea to burn a DVD with all the drivers that are on the HDD (the huge folder in C:, SW***).

    Thanks for the info. Good idea on the partitions. I already do that for my desktop so that when I have to reinstall windows, I don't have to worry about saving data or applications and can leave them on the 2nd partition.
