I have read the stickies and have looked at this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=184105

It appears to me that these are all geared towards intel based machines. Mine is AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TEchnology TL-50 1.60 GHz. Will the above approaches work?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Went ahead and did it. Hardware manager showing not problems. Windows update caught that I had the wrong Nvidia display driver and picked the correct one for me.

There is one problem though. The wireless is not working. The light remains orange whether switch is turned on or off. I installed the wireless assistant but cannot not tell if it is there or not. It is not showing up in taskbar as usual. I suspect that the wireless is dead. Nothing shows as being a problem in the device manager. Also before I downgraded to WinXp, I tried an upgrade to Win7. It went along fairly well. It was running fine including the wireless. Then after a shutdown the wireless never came back. I never knew whether it was a Win7 problem.

Since it is now WinXP, I suspect that the wireless is dead.

    Any thoughts anyone?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

If your laptop is set up the same as my dv9500T then the wireless is an add on card, you can access it from one of the covers on the bottom. I would remove and replace it first, to check connections. If it still doesn't work, you can search for a replacement. I know mine is available on line for between $13 and $35 US.
