    Hi everybody,
I am having a problem with the CPU Fan it's constantly blowing and making my laptop's running slowly. I contacted hp support and after a couple of emails and suggestions they told me to use the Recovery manager to reinstall vista. I did install the latest bios which i got from HP and all the possible vista tweaks and finally i decided to go back to XP. After googlin' i got to this forum. I did a good search here and I got so many ideas and solutions that i got confused on how to downgrade my dv9000 (dv9629ca). Can somebody give me a link on how to do this for my laptop. Bellow im providing some important info about my laptop.

Motherboard Name:Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv9500 Notebook PC
    Motherboard Chipset:Intel Crestline-GM GM965
    CPU Type:Mobile DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo T5250, 1500 MHz (9 x 167)
    System Memory:2037 MB (DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM)

    IDE Controller:Intel(R) ICH8M Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 2850
IDE Controller:Intel(R) ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller
    Video Adapter:Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family (448 MB)
    Audio Adapter:Realtek ALC268 @ Intel 82801HBM ICH8M - High Definition A. C.

Downgrading won't help your fan's settings, but will your speed to some extent, so will more ram and a faster CPU.

Upgrading to a CPU that runs cooler like a compatible P or T series with the 45 nanometer architecture instead of the 65 you are running now will drop you core temps by about 10c and reduce the amount of intensive fan usage, because the fan runs all the time anyway. (Plus you'll have a faster FSB)

Upgrading to 4Gb of ram will help your speed because on powering up you'd be close to using 1GB depending what programs you have installed/running and that's near half what you got which can't be good.

Unless you run programs that execute faster in a commercial way (commercial way=Time is money), downgrading to XP won't be the silver bullet you're after, IMO

Try the HP forums I've seen dudes there give out websites with all the drivers you'll need to downgrade.

Why do you really need to downgrade to XP? Vista is working very good these days, especially on such capable machine.

Thanks for the forward flipwire :)
jetonr, if you have any more questions, you should post in the thread that flipwire posted. You have a dv9629 which falls under the dv9500 category so follow those steps :)
