    Dreamcolor Screen??

    i got two of the elitebook 8740w ( no stickers on them) i need a way to pin point if they have dreamcolor screen. they have no markings and in the device manger they just have generic mon.... but the look different when you look at them so i think one does but again i need a for sure yes it does.

    talked to hp tech support and since both dont have s/n they dont know lol

    I really have to say if you had a DreamColor 2, you'd clearly know it. When you look at the display at a greater than 45 degree angle, is the hue unaltered (yes, the screens will dim, but the color hue should be unaltered)? Meaning, if you look at it at these extreme angels, does it look like this?

    If so, then you just might have a DC2 screen! Most importantly open the screen wide and look from the bottom up. A TN display will start washing out then inverting the colors at over 45 degrees. The IPS display in the DC2 will keep the hues accurate. I.e.:

    Also, if you have DC2, it would be pre-installed with something called the HP Mobile Display Assistant (which is where that test image came from that I used as my subject in the photographs).
