I have a dv7t-6100 quad and have tried to update the latest Intel driver that the HP support site says I need. I downloaded the driver and tried to install it and the error says that my computer does not meet the minimum requirements. What does that mean. The HP scan recommended the driver for this model number. I dont get it. Any suggestions?

Did you use your model serial number search for the drivers? If you use dv7t-6100 your going to get a general driver search that could incompass more then one O/S driver. Use your P/N on the hp site to get a more exact spec and driver for your laptop. Did you do that???

Thanks fo rthe reply. I did go to the HP site and let their software scan my puter for driver updates. The intel graphics update was the only driver it found for my model but it would not install. I may hav non critical updates to windows 7 that I have not done such as dot net updates. Would that cause this not to meet the minimum requirements for the graphics driver update? Thanks for the help.

I would avoid using their auto updates and go to the Intel HD graphics video site and download their latest video software from there instead. Their HP graphics will only show up to the last support version they have not any newer version released by Intel. Otherwise do a manual download of the drivers and do your own updates offline then you will know if you have any problems where the problem is.

There are new updates to the Intel and the ATI graphics card which are both on this dv7t- 6100 sandy bridge pavillion notebook. Just in case this matters this is the unit that had the issues with the switchable graphics and a new BIOS was out out by HP to fix the problem. I was under the impression that this notebook was sensitive to the driver installed being modified by HP to work with this notebook. Therefore I am not sure I should dl drivers from anywhere but HP. Am I wrong in thinking that this is the case with these notebooks? If so maybe I should just update the drivers from windows update or from the intel or AMD sites. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. The driver package offered from HP is sp55098 if that means anything. Is that an old update? Is there newer from Intel site?

If your notebook contains both Intel / AMD switchable graphics, you will need to use the driver package that is provided by HP as it contains customizations. The driver packages provided by the Intel and AMD websites do not support the use of switchable graphics, so there's no guarantee that those drivers will install / operate correctly.

Try the following driver (it's a bit old unfortunately) and see if it works:

    AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver
    Released: 2011-11-18
    Version: 8.882.2.3000
    Compatibility:
    Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)
    Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Thanks justinkw1 for the reply. This notebook has the BIOS that you must boot into the BIOS to change the ATI graphics card or the integrated Intel graphics. It was initially designed as a dynamic switchable graphics type setup by HP but that did not work and they put out the BIOS to fix that. It is now switchable only by using the bios to select the graphics you desire. I am currently running the version 8.,830.6.2000 dated 4/12/2011 and the HP scan of my notebook says that the update needed is version 8.15.10.2476 dated 4/12/2012. But I can not install that file with the error that my computer does not meet the minimum specs. I have changed the harddrive out for an Intel SSD but that is the only change I have made to the notebook. I brought all the updates up to date for the notebook including the dotNet updates that were recommended on windows update. That did not help the situation when I tried to install the driver again. My computer is out of warranty so I am sure HP will not be of any assistance here. Would you still not suggest I use drivers from the Intel or ATI sites knowing what my computer graphics setup is? Thanks
