I have a Windows Vista Ultimate x64. I would like to install it on my laptop in place for bloated Home Premium that came with my laptop. I could not find the drivers on HP's Drivers & Support page.

How do I go about acquiring the drivers?

The drivers should be on the HP support page. Here is the driver/software listing on the HP website for the dv6-1264ca (AMD):

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2100&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3979408

As for the dv6-1260, different versions exist -- pick the one that best fits your model, then select Windows Vista (64-bit) to view the driver/software listing:

    http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Look...BB&h_lang=en&h_cc=us&h_query=dv6-1260&x=0&y=0

Please note that there is some bloat in the software listed on these pages as well. I recommend you not download any of the software tools that are provided to minimize any potential bloatware.

Thanks for your reply dude, but those are the pages I am referring to - they dont have any drivers beside Video Card and Sound Card... If i do a clean reinstall, i would want everything working like the card reader, webcam, Wireless ...

You can also just use the ones that originally came installed with your unit. They are located in the "Software Setup" folder if you haven't deleted it. Also, unless things have changed, your DVD encoder software is stored there too and is usually not available via the download pages. That may have changed with the switch from Cyberlink to MediaSmart, I 'm not sure, but it's worth a check before you do a fresh install and wipe the drive. Otherwise, you might end up having to spend $15 bucks or so to get an encoder.

    Just a thought....

    Thanks! ;)
I remember having an nx6125, and all of the drivers where available for download from the website, thats why i was kind of surprised to see none available for this laptop, especially since its so recent.

But! I did find the drivers, and they are much like you said are located in C:/SwSetup

    Thanks a bunch!

Good deal.... make a copy of that folder and put it somwhere for safe keeping. It's usually very handy to have and will keep you from loosing software that is not usally included on the HP driver pages... should you ever need it. ;)

That said, the drivers in the software setup folder (swsetup) will only be as current as the date your notebook was built and therefore less useful with age. Lithus was kind enough to point you to the correct link for the most current HP listed drivers for your unit but if you do a bit of checking and comparing you can usually also find even newer ones than those HP offers.

Justin does a great job of keeping several "driver threads" here at NBR up to date and if you check you'll probably find newer drivers that are designed to work with many different units (especially Intel chipset updates). Just be careful, read the thread preface, check installation notes that are included with many of the drivers, and if you're not sure..... ask.

    Here is just one example:

    All the best....
