I am going to drop kick my dv5000 pretty soon. The keyboard is dying and my pc locks up once and awhile for 5 mins then resumes to normal. Wireless doesn't work either.
I am going to call HP next week and get it sent in or tell them I want a new laptop. I know others have had problems with this but I am not going to leave HP alone until they do something about it.
-
If you do drop kick it, be sure to post photos and/or video. I recommend using a ski boot for best results.
-
no, steel toe... it will do more damage and hurt less...
or
if you want to have fun with it overclock the s**t and take the fan out of the computer!!!! boom make sure you video record it if you do that. -
Just don't expect it to be covered under the Accidental Coverage Warranty though...
I once felt that way about an old laptop a few years back... -
Take a hammer to it. Or even better, do some 'durability testing' and run a car over it, drop it from a second story window, etc. The results would make a hilarious YouTube vid...

Thanks for the suggestions but I will call HP 1st and see how that goes. haha
I am looking forward to my iMac this spring. -
lols, after you do that you can save the 2 GB Ram for me
i really need a 2 GB ram. my frnds girl friend broke his laptop but he still got the ram so he gave it to me -
On the serious note: if HP doesn't feel like fixing my laptop will they send it back with what was wrong when I sent it in or will they send me a new laptop?
-
Sell it on ebay for parts if you really hate it. Or, try and fix it, like a lot of people would.
-sigh-
Or blow it up. -
To the OP..
They will repair it if it's under warranty... and NO they will not send you a NEW laptop...
You have to have the unit repaired for the SAME problem 3 times, with them replacing a "major" component three times before a exchange is made. (When an exchange is made, expect a refurb.)
Read thru this thread on what to "expect".... and as a "tip" take pictures of the unit BEFORE you send it in for "repair" as alot of people are reporting getting units back from repair "damaged".
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=57325
(Posts that reference damage are later on in the thread I think, other posters in other threads have stated the same...)
I'd suggest you take pic's with the unit sitting on top of a NEWSPAPER, with a MAJOR headline showing /the date to prove the conditition of the unit before you sent it in for "service".
Know it sounds "strange", but I might even go as far as taking a trip to your local "bank", taking the unit, Pic's of the unit and a short document and get a statement of the condition of the unit notarized !!!!
(Most banks will do this for "free")
That way HP could not jerk you around on the condition of the machine.... saying you photoshopped the pic's, newspaper, etc if they wanted to take it that far....
Notarized document on the condition +pics would cover ALL the bases I would think.

I'll be sure to take pictures.

youtube it please!!!! for the love of god. haha..
