I hope I can get some help here or maybe steered to another area for help.
I have a hp dv9920 that was dropped. It broke the screen and messed up the hinges a little. I hooked up a monitor to see if it works or not. It starts up fine but after about 5-10 minutes it shuts down. I'm thinking it's overheating?
No job right now so I prefer to try and get this running. I'm looking for any and all input(what to check, test, replace, etc.) Any way of knowing the different models of screen for replacement?
    Thanks,
    Doug

I would begin by searching for the maitenence and service guide for the dv9000 (or dv9900 if one that specific exsists). Probabbly find it through Google or HP's support page for your model. Within the guide, you will find HP's parts numbers for compatible replacements as well as useful information on how to replace the screen itself. After you have the parts numbers, you can search Google again (my preference is eBay, probably locate replacement hinges there as well) and you will come across all sorts of vendors offering compatible products. Good luck!
