Last thursday I dropped my HP envy 14 down the stairs. The radiance screen is completely shattered, the keyboard sticks, metal is dented and the dvd drive wont work (I think it is dented on the inside). The seller provided me with US adp documentation, however it seemed to be valid in the UK and so when I phoned I was told that I would be contacted back tommorow. Has anyone had experiences with the ADP in the UK? Also, as the Laptop had a radiance screen - do you think that I could ask for an upgrade to compensate for the radiance screen?
    thanks
    Stanley

Can't comment on the ADP working the UK. I think HP consumer warranty is tied to the country it originated from (unlike HP's corporate laptop standard warranties, which are tied globally). However, don't quote on that for sure.

About the Radiance compensation, I doubt you are allowed to get an upgrade. You can always feel free to ask but HP is not obligated to however and has the right to say that you will be getting a replacement machine with the same specifications except for Radiance or maybe if you are lucky, replace it with the upcoming Sandy Bridge revision (but note the revision doesn't have Radiance either).

    Good Luck!

Dokiz from France recently sent his notebook for servicing and his Radiance was replaced. I'm sure HP France can ship the parts over to UK if they don't have it in stock.

They could but they won't. If hp (enter your country here) doesn't have the part then you aren't getting the part. Hp is known on this forum for not have very good communication within the company, especially with screens that start with the letter R. Make sure you talk to a few reps and be persistent.

you are asking a bit too much arent you?

Sending parts globally and having the stock inventory world wide for parts is a waste of money

thanks for all the info - I have contacted HP they seemed friendly enough. the ADP was purchased from the US and so wasn't recognised in the UK, but I should be contacted later today to see if I qualify for ADP and what the replacement will be.

Just a little precision though: in France the Envy 14 came out without any Radiance screen, just a regular Brightview for €999.--
When I sent back my Envy it went to the European repair center and apparently they had screens. I'd advice you to ask to the rep if they can get a screen from Europe...
