    hi everyone,

i am new and this may have been covered already and I apologize to ask the same questions.

I have read and search through the forum on Dual booting with multiple OS vista and xp namely. I have heard many say to partition a single hard drive to get this to work. Well I have an hp dv9620 with an AMD Turion 64 x2.

    i have 2x120 sata drives 5400rpm.
    2gb ram
nvidia geforce go 7150m graphics adapter
    lightscribe multi drive
    quickplay
    5-n-1 card reader
    webcam

what i would like to know, is there any way to install OS on separate hard drives and dual boot this way. I would like to have XP installed on primary drive and install Vista on secondary drive.
i have many apps for xp and would still like to use vista for apps at work. With this setup the physical drive space will not be taxed with two OS's residing on one disk.

If this can not work or anyone has NOT tried it if I install XP solely where can I find the appropriate drivers for xp. I have already made recovery disks for Vista. I just bought the notebook a few hours ago. So i have no files to back up. Any information is helpful and this machine is great so far and extremely quiet virtually no fan noise?

    Thanks again!

start off with burning a copy of the SWSetup folder on your hard drive. If possible, extract the Softpaq executable files while in Vista (Most of them might only extract in Vista). Backing up these files will ensure a smoother transition to Vista. Some of the drivers could also be used for WinXP (not likely for many though!). There are separate guides in this forum for Installing XP on dvx5/600 series. Installing both operating systems on the same hard drive offers you the convenience of having the additional hard drive solely for backup :).

    Fraser13,

Thank you for your assistance. I read some of the stickys regarding vista and xp installs. However the one I found on the dv9500t is a similar config and I was not sure if the same drivers would work for the dv9600 series? If any one can provide some insight that would be great? I may just install XP and use the other hard drive as storage space. The only issue is drivers for XP operating system. Can anyone provide some information regarding drivers for this series.

    Thanks!

Try the following links. Each of them contains XP Drivers for dv9620

    Chipsetb driver

    http://tinyurl.com/3ajgxy

    Nvidia graphics

    .../2q6ss4

    Broadcom Wireless

    .../2uzyox

    Quick launch button

    .../3xxefb

    touch software

    .../2olk8x

This should solve the most important Driver problems under XP but not all.
