    Hi there

I have an HP Elitebook 6390P; I remember seeing for the Thinkpads someone could remove the CDROm Drive and put a hard drive into this slot and then put into the cdrom drive.

I was just wondering is it possible with the HP Elitebooks?

    Thank you!

I'm contemplating getting a SSD and just taking out the main HD and plugging it into the side. Is that possible or do I have to purchase anything else?

The HP upgradeBay hard drive caddy for the 6930p can be a difficult find if you are looking for one unpopulated.
It took some time to find a bare HP UpgradeBay caddy, but i did get one off eBay.
It seems HP and its resellers charge a hefty price for this part and only seem to sell it populated.

You will need the UpgradeBay caddy + HP hard drive metal bracket.
