How do you get a V2000 to start in the safe mode in order to do diagnostics?

hold down f8 after the boot screen appears (it will say 'HP' bios revision 'whatever' or something to that effect) to get Windows' startup options.

I've tried to get into safe mode a couple times and it just wouldnt go.

Its definitely F8. I got it to work by pressing it really fast

@aphexacid- good point, sometimes your keyboard may not allow the f8 key to be 'held' during startup so you may need to hammer on it like you said.

I guess you have to keep trying. F8 was what I was told but it did not work.

check your manual to be sure what key you need to press. But i think either F8 or F10.

OK thanks got it. My mistake was trying to get it through restart, it will not work. Pressing F8 on start did the trick. Sorry not the greatest manual user.
